1o.a.k. was created by designers Priscilla Guimarais, Kumiko Haruyama, and Tramaine Tillman. The design team has discovered a unique niche in transforming discarded hospital scrubs and other surplus materials into garments that are as exquisite as they are sustainable.
The trio met in 2007 at the beginning of their graduate studies in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. In the Spring of 2009, the ladies collaborated as one of the pioneering teams for national sustainability initiative, Design Ignites Change. At the close of the project, the designers chose to pursue their knack for upcyclable couture garments and created 1o.a.k.
Guimarais, Haruyama, and Tillman founded their label on the principles of: timelessness, sustainability, and innovation. Inspired by organic form and design, each collection will be impressionable, relevant, and modern using innovative processes and practices that ensure sustainability from inception to completion.
